Author’s notes:  This story takes place on the USS Sutherland and involves the character of Elizabeth Shelby.  My take on Shelby is in no way influenced by the Elizabeth Shelby as written by Peter David in his New Frontiers series of novels, comics, and short stories.  Also, I only link stories that I've completed here on this site.  Any of my works that are still in progress can be found at the Trek BBS which you can get to from my links page.  Thanks again and I hope everyone enjoys these and the other stories on this site.

 

SUTH 1. (Dec 2371--Jan 2372) Shakedown Cruise:  Captain Elizabeth Shelby takes command of the USS Sutherland and its sometimes quirky crew.  Will she be able to mold her new command into a functioning team in time to meet the challenge presented by a previously unknown entity, or will her new command end before it has even begun? (Updated! Version 2.0 posted)

SUTH 2. (Jan 2372 Stardate 49011.4) Shore Leave:  The crew of the Sutherland engage in some much needed downtime at Deep Space Nine. (Updated! Version 2.1 posted)

SUTH 3. (2372) Unraveling Forceful Patterns:  The USS Sutherland  has been tasked with the mission of showing the flag at an academic conference attended by a former professor of Captain Shelby’s on Ekos where she and her old mentor will find that old horrors can sometimes die hard and that the Prime Directive is not something to be taken lightly. (Version 2.0 Completed)

SUTH 4. ( 2372) Ties that Bind:  Lieutenant Lavelle and Ensign Django undertake a quest to find out the fate of an old friend of Sam’s with the help of a few other old friends. (Completed)

SUTH 5. (2372) Vigil: A series of interconnecting vignettes that looks at the immediate aftermath of the rescue of Sito Jaxa (Completed)

SUTH 6. (2372 Stardate 49170.65)  Messages From Earth: The events and ramifications of Leyton's coup attempt as portrayed in the Deep Space Nine episodes "Homefront" and "Paradise Lost" extended far beyond what was seen in those episodes.  This story portrays the events of Leyton's power grab as seen from the perspective of the Sutherland and its crew and their friends and allies.  My heartfelt thanks go out to LoneRedShirt, Gibraltar, CJD, and DarKush for the use of their characters in this story.  If you haven't read these guys' stories yet, please do so--you're in for a treat. SUTH 7. (2372 Stardate 49170.65) Messages from Earth: Picking Up the Pieces: A series of vignettes that delves further into how Captain Shelby and the crew of the Sutherland, along with their friends, cope with the ramifications of Leyton's coup attempt.   My heartfelt thanks go out to LoneRedShirt, Gibraltar, CJD, and DarKush for the use of their characters in this story. If you haven't read these guys' stories yet, please do so--you're in for a treat. (Completed)

                1. Restitution: In helping her former lover, Erika Benteen, Captain Shelby must come to grips with her own betrayal of trust to Benteen several years earlier

                2. Coming Together: Sam Lavelle and his mother begin the long, painful process of reconciliation as a new love is kindled on the beach of Ipanema between Lavelle and Ensign Maria Django

                3. Bonding: Shelby and Captain Morgan Bateson bond over tales of Liz's grandparent whom Bateson served under, and later, Cadets Atris and T'Pren find new homes.

                4. Paying the Piper: The price is paid by the conspirators for Leyton's coup attempt.  Of course, some pay a higher price than others.

                5. Reunions: Reunions can be occasions of great happiness as well as great sadness as DeMara Deen, Anara Rysyl, and Elizabeth Shelby all find out.

                6. Pajama Party: The Sutherland's captain and crew, along with their friends, let down their hair and party like there's no tomorrow.

SUTH 8. (2373) Rocks and Shoals: Part I, Part II, Part III, Part IV: Manuele Atoa and Solly Brin are both sent on dangerous undercover operations to crack a dangerous drug and weapons smuggling operation as the Sutherland welcomes its newest recruit and two captains find that they need to learn to cooperate with each other if their people are to survive.  A sprawling novel length story, this story guest stars the crew of the USS Bluefin along with a few other surprise individuals.   (Completed)

SUTH 9. (2373) Leading with your Heart: My entry in the Trek BBS May Challenge.  Sometimes the Prime Directive can be a real pain...(Completed)

SUTH 10. (Early 2374) Absent Friends: A Dominion War tale.  Liz takes the Sutherland, along with the border cutters Bozeman and Scamp and the starship Renown into battle at Caernarvon IV--a battle that will exact a very high price as it changes the lives of all involved. (Completed)

SUTH 11. (2374) Outta Sight: Take one holographic 1960s era lounge singer named Vic Fontaine, add one starship captain with a green feather boa named Elizabeth Shelby, stir well, and what do you get? Ring a ding ding! A Dominion war era story submitted for the June Fanfic Challenge on the Trek BBS. (Completed)
